Meira and R&F have started a cooperation that includes hot drinks sold at Stena Line Ferries. The cooperation started in the autumn of 2021, which gives them the opportunity to give Stena Line’s customers the best, sustainable coffee experience at sea with the international brand Segafredo.
Meira Oy is part of the Italian Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, which is one of the largest companies in the coffee industry in Europe and has strong international growth in recent years. Meira produces coffee and spice products for both consumers and professionals in their own production plant in Vallila, in the heart of Helsinki.
Sustainability work is a big part of Meira’s values – ensuring the wellbeing of people and the environment at the source of coffee is very important. They import annually around 15 million kilos of green coffee e.g. from Honduras, Brazil, Colombia and Uganda and the goal is to buy 100% certified green coffee by the end of 2022.
” We are very happy to start working with Meira and Segafredo, since we truly can share the common vision; to be the best chef – and barista – at sea. Segafredo coffee is of the highest quality and is sustainably produced, from farm to cup. Our cooperation so far has been fruitful – we will together develop the category of hot drinks with passion and an innovative mindset”, says Jari Virtanen, Managing Director at Stena Line Travel&Retail Group.
Raimo Sinisalo, Managing Director of Meira, continues: “The partnership between Meira and R&F is a great opportunity for us to further expand our business and the Segafredo premium brand internationally. We are very excited to be involved in creating the best customer experience at sea and at the same time drive the consumption of sustainably farmed and produced coffee”.
The Segafredo coffee will be available on Stena Line’s vessels from the first quarter of 2022.
